Assistant Controller

On behalf of our client, Piruqsaijit Ltd., we are searching for an Assistant Controller to join their team in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Piruqsaijit Ltd. is a property management company that has been in operations for over 20 years. This fast-growing organization provides services to several Inuit owned corporations involved in commercial, retail and residential properties in various communities within Nunavut.


Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for supporting the accounting and financial management functions of six separate corporations.

    Lead the day to day general accounting function and financial management

  • Supervise a staff of four (AP, AR, Accounting and Front Desk Cashier)

  • Supervise and explain all Sage 50 entries and financial processes

  • Support the Controller by analyzing revenue, expenses, balance sheets and investments

  • Liaison with banks and lending institutions; manage cash flow

  • Enhance and document business processes and accounting policies

  • Comply all necessary reporting for Board and AGM meetings

  • Prepare all documentation and work with external accountants on year-end, taxation, and related functions

  • Educate, mentor and assist others in finance or non-finance roles

  • Foster a client driven and can-do environment with a hands-on approach to deliver key initiatives

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education with a professional accounting designation CPA (CMA, CGA or CA)

  • One year practical experience in a similar position coupled with an excellent understanding of financial management, accounting principles and internal controls

  • Excellent reporting, tracking, follow up, communication and people skills

  • Experience with Sage 50 accounting system

  • Ability to work as a team member and sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse setting

  • Results oriented, self-motivated, disciplined and proactive individual who gets things done
